Oak Dresser – Restored – 2008

A super neat piece!  I found it from an art dealer who worked out of the building where the Manhattan project was housed.  So, true confession, I didn’t actually build this – I restored it during my first year of Columbia – rebuilt the drawers and applied a new finish.  Wow, refinishing furniture in a NYC apartment is a fast way to be unpopular.  Spilling a liter of stain will do that too.  I think the unique thing about this piece, is the wood veneer running up and down, rather than side to side.  It is so unique it just pops.
